Cytherea moved from her hometown to Las Vegas, Nevada and started her own Yahoo! Group, on which she posted nude photographs and video of herself. It was through this that she was spotted and contacted by an adult industry modeling agency about working in adult film. She agreed and began working as a porn actress shortly thereafter.

Cytherea has garnered much attention for her work in the adult industry, winning the Best New Starlet Award from AVN in 2005. To date she has been featured in over 200 adult films, including a series of titles in which she stars called Squirtwoman (Cytherea Iz Squirtwoman, Squirtwoman 1-3). She has appeared on cable television shows, most notably the HBO/Cinemax series Sex Games: Vegas, Playboy TV's Night Calls and has been a three time guest of The Howard Stern Show (per her IMDb filmography).

Cytherea also hosts an industry talk and interview radio show with her husband Brian (also known as Plus One) on KSEX in Los Angeles, California called Goddess of Gush. Together they have formed a production company called Club Cytherea Productions. Since its inception, 7 movies have been produced under the label, e.g. Female Ejaculation Nation, Meet The Fuckers and Star Whores.
